for teaching young children how to sew and embroider. If you're tired of embroidering those same old roses
featured in so many embroidery projects, you will love the really unusual flowers in this design, based upon
a late-summer/early-fall garden.
This Pig Pillow Brings Happiness In More Ways Than One
Do you remember those darling vintage piggy banks nearly every child owned? Remember
their smiling faces, shiny eyes and pretty floral embellishments? Today, many people collect
vintage piggy banks because of their fondness for them. The amusing, cheerful look of this
unique throw pillow pattern will bring a smile to every face, and if you choose to include
some potpourri, dried flowers or herbs in the stuffing, the principles of basic aromatherapy
can bring peace and repose to you or a loved one. The Potpourri Piggy Bank Pillow Instruction
Booklet contains some simple suggestions for how to make an aromatherapy pillow using
traditional herbs and flowers to comfort common complaints. It's a super easy project, perfect for beginners. Even
if you've never sewed or embroidered before, you can make this quick and charming pillow!
When I embroider, I like to create unusual designs and tend to be bored by many of the
typical embroidery patterns which seem to use the same flowers over and over
again. I created this throw pillow pattern so that you could have fun embroidering some
blooms you may never have tried to create before. You'll have such fun embroidering:
- Blue Salvia
- Golden Chrysanthemums
- Marigolds
- Potentilla
- Portulaca
- Scarlet Pimpernel
My inspiration came from the flowers that are blooming in my California garden in late
summer/early fall and the overall color palette is rosy and autumnal. You can use the template
included in the booklet, or create your own design. You could do beading, cross stitch,
needlepoint, use fabric paint or even make the throw pillow out of vintage embroidered
table cloths or pillow cases. The choice is yours. The main thing is to have fun!
Your Finished Project
The 7" x 10" finished size of this pillow makes it a perfect small accent pillow to toss on a bed
or sofa, ready to be picked up, hugged and loved. Make a chamomile pillow for a child
who is having trouble sleeping, a lavender pillow for a friend who's feeling anxious or
a sage pillow for a loved one going through a time of sadness. Or, if you prefer your
embroidered pillows to be fragrance-free, you can simply stuff with fiberfill.
Whichever way you go, no one will be able to resist giving this little piggy a little squeeze!
If you've been waiting for a new project from TheMexicanDress.com, I hope you will enjoy this
one. Never sewed from a downloadable pattern before? It's easy! You can read how pattern downloads work.
No need to get in the car or wait for a mail
order to come. In just seconds, this fun pig pillow pattern will be in your own two hands.
